En el barrio de Belgrano existe un espacio que guía a las personas en su búsqueda de sus historias familiares
En la iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los últimos días, ubicada en Zabala 2005, barrio de Belgrano, existe un espacio que guía a las personas en materia de búsqueda de información sobre sus antepasados. Enseñan a las personas acerca de ‘Family Search’, que es el programa de Internet que tiene la iglesia para ayudar a buscar datos de familiares.
“En ‘Family Search’, desde cualquier casa, estamos a un click de distancia de encontrar a nuestros familiares. El programa se va actualizando todos los días a través de voluntarios y podemos ver todo desde la comodidad del hogar”, destacó Marcela Martínez, Directora del Centro de Historia Familiar.
En el espacio reciben a todas las personas interesadas, sean miembros o no de la iglesia, y las guían en la búsqueda de datos de sus antepasados. Es un servicio totalmente gratuito y no se piden colaboraciones. No hay que sacar turno ni pedir cita previamente.
“Últimamente, tuvimos un auge de asistencia de personas. Debido a la búsqueda de la doble nacionalidad, se acercan buscando partidas o registros para completar los requisitos que piden las diferentes embajadas. También hay un crecimiento del interés general de las personas hacia la historia de la familia. Todos sabemos un poco de nuestros antepasados que están en Argentina, pero nos quedamos con un vacío respecto a los países que son las Madres Patrias. Estamos buscando todos completar la historia y cerrar el círculo”, contó Martínez sobre las motivaciones que llevan a la gente a acercarse al Centro.
Respecto a los resultados que brinda esta experiencia, dijo: “No es fácil, pero cuando uno empieza a encontrar los datos, se pone muy alegre. Es una atracción que uno siente y no sabe por qué. Cada vez se quieren encontrar más datos. La búsqueda da sus frutos. Hay personas que han comenzado con un solo nombre y que han podido llenar una carpeta completa sobre su familia, solo con la perseverancia”.
“Es muy grande el porcentaje de gente que encuentra información. El éxito es no darse por vencido. A veces uno piensa que no tiene nada, solo uno o dos nombres, pero acá vemos que se empieza con eso y se continúa hasta lograr cada vez más. Las barreras se las pone uno mismo”, sostuvo la directora del Centro en diálogo con “Aquí la 13” por Radio Arinfo.
En el espacio también brindan consejos sobre otros espacios, además del programa ‘Family Search’, en los que se puede encontrar información. “El objetivo es que la gente no se vaya desanimada, sino con el empuje para seguir buscando”, planteó Martínez y aclaró que el Centro no hace genealogía ni realiza las búsquedas, sino que solo brinda pautas y consejos para que las personas puedan encontrar la información.
Al ser consultada sobre las fuentes de información y cuál es su estado luego de las guerras en Europa, señaló: “Nos topamos con que muchas cosas desaparecieron, pero otras se conservaron. A veces nos sorprendemos de encontrar más de lo que pensamos. En muchos lugares hubo mucho descuido de los registros, incluso en nuestro país por documentos que se mojaron, se quemaron, etcétera. Pero la iglesia microfilmó los registros que se recuperaron y así nació ‘Family Search’”.
La directora del Centro contó que, en la actualidad, las personas de más de 40 años son las que se sienten más atraídas por saber sobre sus antepasados ya que “muchos quieren cerrar sus historias”.
Asimismo, afirmó que “la primera fuente y la más importante” son los propios parientes, los padres, tíos o abuelos ancianos. “Ellos nombran pueblos, ciudades, apellidos, familiares. En la búsqueda, esos datos pueden ser muy importantes”, recalcó.
“Todo esto involucra muchas emociones todo esto. Se vive todo de manera muy vibrante. El hecho de ver un documento tan antiguo con el nombre de un pariente da mucha emoción”, concluyó Martínez desde los micrófonos de Radio Arinfo.
