Antonio Andary Saab, nuevo embajador del país asiático en la Argentina, destaca los lazos que unen a ambas naciones. Además, pide por la paz en Siria
El flamante embajador del Líbano en Argentina habló sobre la importancia histórica de su país, de sus compatriotas en el mundo y de cómo su nación se está viendo seriamente afectada por el desarrollo de la Guerra Civil en el vecino estado de Siria.
“El Líbano es un país muy antiguo. Aunque no sea la cumbre más alta del mundo en términos geográficos, lo es en historia. Ha pasado por muchas situaciones e invasiones, pero hoy la cuestión está mucho mejor”, aseguró Antonio Andary Saab en diálogo con “El faro del sur” por Radio Arinfo.
Asimismo, destacó los importantes lazos existentes con la Argentina: “Este es un país al cual han venido los primeros inmigrantes libaneses, por lo que hay una colectividad muy grande y activa, que está presente en los ámbitos políticos, culturales, sociales y comerciales.
“Las relaciones de amistad entre ambos países existen hace mucho tiempo y también hay vínculos de tipo económico, con exportaciones de productos como carne, medicamentos o dulces”, añadió el diplomático.
Actualmente el Líbano tiene 4 millones de habitantes en sus 10 mil kilómetros cuadrados. La misma cantidad de compatriotas viven en el exterior, en países como Argentina, Brasil, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Australia, Venezuela, México y algunos de África.
“A donde uno vaya, sabe que siempre habrá libaneses”, remarcó con humor Andary Saab.
El Líbano también es uno de los 22 países a los que se los llama “árabe”. “Es cierto que hay una cultura común, pero cada país es diferente. El nuestro, por ejemplo, es el único que no establece una religión del estado. Hay 18 confesiones diferentes y tolerancia entre estas. También hay elecciones, transferencia del poder y democracia”, explicó el flamante embajador en Argentina.
Y, en ese marco, recalcó: “El conflicto religioso en Medio oriente es algo muy fuerte. El Líbano pasó por esa etapa, pero la guerra ya quedó atrás. Hoy, es un país que es un ejemplo, un mensaje para el mundo de paz y una muestra de cómo las personas pueden vivir juntas”.
“El Islam no es lo que se muestra en Siria o en otros lugares donde, en nombre de Alá, se permite que ocurran esas monstruosidades”, planteó.
Finalmente, hizo referencia a los efectos que el conflicto en Siria está teniendo en el estado libanés: “Hoy es el único país que está recibiendo refugiados y ya hay casi un millón. Socialmente, económicamente y humanitariamente hay implicaciones. No puede ser que el Líbano sea el único país que abra sus puertas. Turquía y Jordania, por ejemplo, han cerrado sus fronteras y el Líbano está pagando el precio. Toda la comunidad internacional, la ONU y el Vaticano deben llamar a que la ayuda sea general, que no venga solo por parte de nuestro país”
“Este conflicto tendrá consecuencias sobre toda la región. Los países que piensan que están lejos o que no tienen nada que ver, se equivocan. Este fuego, poco a poco, se va a extender. Por eso hay que trabajar para la paz”, sostuvo Andary Saab desde los micrófonos de Radio Arinfo.
Y, finalmente, afirmó: “Las potencias pueden solucionar esto, todos pueden jugar un rol positivo para implementar la paz en esta parte del mundo”.
